Donations to Museum Collection
Thank you for considering a donation to the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum collection. The Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and foster knowledge of Bainbridge Island history.
To add to the collection, we hope to acquire (1) cultural materials from Bainbridge Island including, among others, objects, photographs, manuscripts, personal papers, business and organization documents, and oral histories; and (2) published materials pertaining to Bainbridge Island and surrounding geographical areas. In reviewing proposed additions to the collection, we consider which of the following three categories best matches the item:
- Primary Research: Rare and unique artifacts, archival and manuscript materials, and original photographic materials significant to the history of Bainbridge Island.
- Secondary Research: Published, printed and visual materials; and commonly found, easily replaceable artifacts, ephemera and reproductions used for education and interpretation.
- Education: Items that are useful to foster better understanding of historical concepts and ideas by offering an opportunity for hands-on interaction with materials from the past.
