Bainbridge Island Historical Museum Annual Membership Meeting
Saturday, February 9, 2020, 1pm – 3pm, St. Barnabas Church Parish Hall

Meeting called to order 1:08pm by Joan Walters, President.
Minutes – Minutes of Annual meeting for 2019 were presented as read. Motion to accept the minutes J. Klimp. Motion second B. Covert. Motion passed unanimously.
Outgoing Board Members – J. Walters thanked both Jim McNett and Kathleen Bullivant for their involvement and commitment to the Museum and for their service to the board.
Board Members standing for election. Nominations for Frank Willman and Sandy Burke to serve a 3-year term on the Board of Directors. Motion made by L. Maxon and second by J. Klimp. Motion passed unanimously.
Board members standing for re-election. Joan Walters and Bill Covert standing for re-election for 3-year term. Motion to re-elect made by K. Beirle, second M. Woodward. Motion passed unanimously.
Executive Director Report – Brianna Kosowitz, Executive Director (see Annual report)
Kosowitz thanked the community present for their support. A review of 2019 highlights included:
Mission and Vision statement rewrite
Museum admission free with a 40% visitor increase. Community support is growing.
Commitment to offering more public programs. Average for 2019 was 31 programs.
Volunteer clock hours was 5,943
Merilee Mostov’s first exhibit for the museum Fearless Music attracted a newer audience and the exhibit opening was a huge success.
Two new fundraisers were introduced: Pickleball Tournament and Turn Back Time Gala. Both were a success in 2019 and will be repeated in 2020.

New exhibit, Her Vote; Her Story in the Bucey Gallery, with membership preview opening on March 5th.
New website – This is in the process of being developed and will launch March 2020.
Strategic Plan – In January 2020 the Board and Staff retreat focused on reworking the strategic plan currently in place. A questionnaire will be available after today’s meeting for completion and then also posted to the greater community to gain feedback.
Fundraisers and Events – There will be 4 fundraisers in 2020. Clay Jenkinson presenting Shakespeare, Virginia V, Pickleball Tournament, and Turn Back Time. All details are in the annual report and will be on the website.
History Heroes – Created two years ago to recognize members who have shared his/her/they love of the island and its history with the community. This year’s honorees; Rick Chandler, Ralph Munro, Karen Wilson, Mary Woodward. A toast followed the presentation.
Joan Walters outgoing President was presented with tokens of appreciation.
Business meeting adjourned – 2:10pm.
A presentation of building renditions for possible expansion by Jim Cutler from Anderson Cutler Architects followed the meeting.
